Before a crowd of family, friends and supporters last Tuesday night, Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE-02) declared he is running for r-election because he loves his country and is on a mission to stop the far-left policies of President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, and Majority Leader Schumer.
“Our mission is clear…With a President who won by two states in the Electoral College, a 50-50 Senate and 5 seat majority in the House, we have to stop their radical transformation of America,” said Bacon. “They have made clear their plan to further divide this country and shove their policies in by getting rid of the filibuster, packing the courts, and embracing the Bernie Sanders domestic agenda.”
Bacon went on to note that these actions have led to a 39-year high with inflation, a 21-year worst crisis at the border, a 45% increase in violent crime… and humiliation by the actions of our President in Afghanistan. The latest polls have the President sitting at 40 percent approval, and the recent elections in Virginia and New Jersey showed a 12 percent bump for the GOP in one year in those states.
“People did not vote for Democratic Socialism and weakness abroad, but that is what they got. They thought they elected Biden, but they got Sanders’s policies,” added Bacon.
While Bacon noted the failed policies of the Biden Administration, he also expressed his concern over an emerging China, which threatens national security as well as the democracy across the world.
“China wants to become the economic and military super weight of the world and they do not care who they hurt or suppress to get there,” said Bacon “Simply put, the Chinese Communist Government does not share our values. They’re conducting genocide against Uighurs and persecute Christians who go to non-state churches. They have no freedom of speech or press. You can be arrested for any reason. Human rights, freedom and rule of law are not in President Xi’s vocabulary
“We have to be Americans first and seek areas where we can work together,” added Bacon. “Our free markets and freedom of expression will always give us a leg up, but we can’t be a house divided where we are willing to chop our nose off to spite our face.”
Bacon further listed his principles.
“I’m 100 percent pro life, 100 percent Second Amendment, 100 percent small business rating by the NFIB and a 100% rating from the Farm Bureau. I’m a believer in our free markets, our federalist principles of local governance, peace through strength, and defender of the family as the most important institution in our communities. I believe you should keep as much of your hard earned money as possible, and that the government should take the least amount possible. I won’t retreat on these principles.”
Touching on his legislative results, Bacon discussed the securing of funding to restore Offutt Air Force Base and Camp Ashland after the historic 209 floods, protections for Gold Star families, the Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccine Bank for the livestock industry, Electronic Warfare and ISR, improved TBI screenings, and the reauthorization of the CHIP IN act needed for our local VA.
I have also been the GOP leader to improve foster care in America and a leader in restoring our readiness of our military from a 45 year low just four years ago,” said Bacon.
“Our work for this district has been recognized by the Common Ground Committee, by the US Chamber the last two years, by the Manufactures of America, Top GOP by the Bipartisan Policy Center, and top Legislator for Veterans by the AMVETS,” added Bacon. “In addition, our office was recognized for having the best Constituent Services in Congress.”
Bacon had one final achievement he mentioned towards the end of the night:
“My greatest achievement is being married to the love of my life Angie for 38 years and our children and grandchildren. When I look at this mission of fighting for our fundamental freedoms of democracy, I think of them and thank God for our blessings.”
