****** Shrewsbury Parent Alert *******

Yesterday some brave children stepped forward and recorded an event for ‘Black History Month’ as with all parents, I believe we should be teaching our children history. Unfortunately, this is not what happened; with no regard for unintended consequences, Shrewsbury High School students assembled and were forced to recite not our national anthem but instead the black national anthem. Again, as a parent, I celebrate our children learning diversity. Unfortunately, that is not what happened in Shrewsbury; instead, our children with no ability to opt-out had to listen over the school’s loudspeakers to hate-filled indoctrination of our children.

As a parent, I listened to the audio from Shrewsbury High School - of a poem about degrading the same police that protect our schools, our communities, and our children. At one point in the poem, it compared the police to predators, with black citizens as their prey. Is this really what we want our children to learn? That they should fear the people that protect us? Taxpayer-funded education should not teach our children to fear our police.

This problem is part of a more significant issue - the lack of transparency for us parents to see what’s going on in our children’s classrooms. Too often, we see videos of teachers crossing the line, and it should have never gotten to this point. How can we trust schools with our children when they depict our police officers as enemies of the people?

Like any rational parent, I care about my children’s education. It’s time that we as parents take back the power of educating our children - and not let some state bureaucrats behind closed doors decide without our knowledge or consent.

Recently our school board spent $45,000 to conduct a diversity survey are you aware? Are you not outraged that money was not used for more essential needs!
