Oswego, IL – Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder, currently running for Illinois 14th congressional district issued the following statement responding to President Joe Biden’s state of the union address:

“Nobody believes the state of our union is stronger today than it was one year ago.  Joe Biden rambling a list of empty claims of progress backed by meaningless promises cannot erase the year of crisis Biden’s failed leadership and his allies in Congress, especially Lauren Underwood have inflicted upon the American people.

We face an economic crisis, an energy crisis, a border crisis, an education crisis, a crime crisis, a COVID-19 crisis, and a national security crisis because of Biden and Congressional Democrats’ failed leadership and Far-Left Socialist agenda.

The “solutions” Biden offered to our crises are too little too late. Worse, they are more of the same. Joe called for higher taxes, more regulation, increased government intrusion into our daily lives, and promised to hold law enforcement accountable instead of criminals.

Big government giveaways funded by tax increases, more punishing regulations to control job creators, food producers, truckers, and domestic energy producers are not the answer.

Rather than tap the strategic petroleum reserve – recently filled by President Trump – Joe Biden should lift his sanctions against American energy producers instead of pushing for continued Green New Deal schemes.

Joe Biden talked a lot about the suffering of the Ukrainian people but offered little to ease the suffering of the American people. While I applaud Ukraine’s resolve against tyranny, it must be said – Joe Biden has done what Putin cannot – divide us as a nation with his misdirected heavy-handed policies that weaken us at home and abroad.

We need results, not rhetoric. I’m a pragmatic conservative who gets things done for everyday people. In Congress I will continue to defend our streets by supporting law enforcement rather than coddling criminals and punishing gun owners. I will fight the rampant inflation that Biden’s policies have wreaked upon us. I will push to unburden job creators and taxpayers.  I will work tirelessly on behalf of the people of Illinois’ 14th District.”
