The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced that MidMichigan Community Health Services in Houghton Lake has been awarded a grant of $1,387,769.

“MidMichigan Community Health Services has supported Michigan residents with the health challenges they face each day and it has played an important role in helping rural communities deal with major concerns, including the pandemic and the opioid crisis," said Congressman Moolenaar. “In Congress, I have advocated for grants like this one, so MidMichigan can help people in our communities live longer, healthier lives."

“We are grateful for Congressman Moolenaar’s consistent support through the years for the Community Health Center program,” said Jim Rashcke, CEO of MidMichigan Community Health Services. “This program allows for individuals and families to receive high quality health care in underserved areas of the country and is helping to bridge the gap in coverage for those patients that are underinsured.  Without that support this program would not exist.  In the past year, MidMichigan Community Health Services provided care for over 15,000 patients in the mid-Michigan area. Again, our thanks go to Congressman Moolenaar.”

The grant is part of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Health Center Cluster program at the Department of Health and Human Services. The program provides funding to community health centers so they can provide health care services to all patients, including those who are underinsured.
