Today marks one year since the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement took effect. The USMCA officially replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement by creating an updated agreement for the three countries.
“The USMCA helps Michigan workers and farmers by leveling the playing field in manufacturing and agriculture and it will help Michigan farmers and companies sell more Michigan-made goods in new markets,” said Congressman John Moolenaar. “I have been a strong supporter of the USMCA because it benefits Michigan and I will continue working to make sure our partners in Canada and Mexico meet the obligations of the agreement.”
The one-year anniversary of USMCA was also marked by the American Farm Bureau.
“Farm Bureau remains very supportive of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement and the structure it provides for continuous improvement in agricultural trade in North America. U.S. farmers and ranchers know that sustained growth in trade is a mainstay of a strong agricultural economy, and we look forward to seeing the relationship between our top trading partners continue to flourish,” said American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall in a press release from the House Ways and Means Committee.
