Today, Congressman John Moolenaar introduced a resolution to designate the week of September 11-17 as Patriot Week.
“Patriot Week celebrates the Constitution and the founding principles of this country, while honoring the victims of 9/11, and encouraging a deeper exploration of our nation’s history,” said Congressman Moolenaar. “It is important to recognize and celebrate the American spirit, and I am proud to cosponsor this resolution that serves as a reminder of the values and freedoms that define who we are as Americans.”
Patriot Week was cofounded by Judge Michael Warren of Oakland County, Michigan, and it recognizes that each generation should renew the spirit of the nation based on the founding principles, historical figures, founding documents, and symbols of the United States, with special reverence for the victims of the 9/11 attacks. The Senate version of this year's resolution will be introduced by Senator Gary Peters.
