Congressman John Moolenaar is a cosponsor of the Babies Need More Formula Act, which would address the nationwide shortage by making it easier for baby formula to be safely imported. The legislation allows parents to order formula from countries with similar safety standards as the United States.
“The baby formula shortage is a crisis for Michigan parents who are struggling to find food for their newborns and infants,” said Moolenaar. “This legislation will eliminate red tape, help restock shelves, and bring much-needed relief to parents and their young children by allowing for the importation of safe and healthy formula from countries that have high standards just like the United States.”

Last Thursday, Congressman Moolenaar questioned FDA Commissioner Robert Califf during an Appropriations Agriculture subcommittee hearing. During his questioning, Moolenaar highlighted stories from constituents on how the baby formula shortage has affected them.
Also last week, Moolenaar voted for H.R. 7791, the Access to Baby Formula Act, that passed the House with a 414-9 vote. This bipartisan legislation eliminates regulations and makes it easier for producers to get more formula on the shelves.
