MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today introduced a bill to provide preference to local contractors for work on or services provided at Department of Veterans Affairs facilities. The measure would benefit local economies by retaining companies that support local incomes.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“By contracting with local companies, the VA gets the advantage of local expertise while bolstering the local economy with jobs and income. My bill would strengthen the VA’s ties to local communities while supporting the livelihoods of their local residents.”

Congressman Cohen first introduced this measure in 2013.
