Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the below statement following today’s House votes on H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446, flawed legislation that would infringe on the Second Amendment, make criminals out of law-abiding citizens, hinder the ability of responsible Americans to protect themselves, and fail to make our communities safer. Womack voted “no” on both bills to defend the Second Amendment rights of Arkansans and Americans:

“These misguided bills will erode the Second Amendment rights of responsible Arkansans and Americans without actually keeping illegal firearms out of the hands of bad actors. It’s unfortunately another political show vote from Democrat leadership. Trampling on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens is not a solution.”

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
