Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) is encouraging all Third District high schoolers to participate in the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. The nationwide contest is an opportunity for Arkansas students to showcase their artistic talents. One winning submission from each congressional district will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Participants may submit original paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, computer-generated art, or a combination thereof.
Congressman Womack said, “The Congressional Art Competition showcases the incredible work of young artists across the Third District. It’s a creative outlet for students to display their talents, and I encourage all those interested to participate. Every time I walk to votes, I’m always proud to see a piece of Arkansas displayed in the halls of the Capitol.”
Submission locations and due dates are as follows:
- Harrison District Office (400 N. Main Street, Suite 3): April 20th, by 5 p.m.
- Fort Smith District Office (6101 Phoenix Avenue, Suite 4): April 20th, by 5 p.m.
- Rogers District Office (3333 Pinnacle Hills Parkway, Suite 120): April 21st, by 5 p.m.
This is the eleventh year that Womack has hosted the Congressional Art Competition. Last year’s winner was Autumn Blaylock, a senior at Fayetteville High School, for her drawing, entitled “Pandemic Prom,” which is currently displayed in the halls of the U.S. Capitol.
