Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the below statement regarding the introduction of a House Democrat bill to add four justices to the Supreme Court. Womack opposes structurally altering our highest court and cosponsored H.J. Res. 11, a constitutional amendment to cap the Supreme Court at nine justices, in response to this severely misguided legislation:

“This proposal signals how dangerously far the partisan motivations of some members have gone. They are willing to dismantle the legitimacy and independence of one of our most significant bodies to implement their radical agenda. It is the rule of law—not political whims—that should guide our highest court. Advancing this bill would be a dangerous power grab that undermines the judiciary and erodes a foundational institution.”

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
