Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Defense announced the termination of the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) program. Womack has raised concerns about the structure of this program and highlighted ethical concerns with the contract since 2018. He has been a strong advocate for a multi-cloud environment that supports innovation and competition:

“Today’s announcement validates what I have stated since day one: a multi-vendor cloud environment is the best way forward. We can’t afford to have any doubts related to the capabilities our warfighters rely on, and restarting the DOD Enterprise Cloud procurement process is the correct decision. Strong transparency and oversight of this new cloud effort to ensure a competitive process will be critical in the months ahead. The goal remains implementing best-in-class tools that are secure, effective, and of the highest standard.”

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
