Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the below statement after opposing a procedural vote that is part of Democrat efforts to continue to play politics with the debt limit, hamstring seniors’ access to local doctors, and avoid fiscal realities:

“It is disappointing that instead of working in a bipartisan way to rein in government spending, Democrats used the proposed cuts to medical providers as incentive to increase the nation’s debt limit. House Republicans are anxious to address the Medicare sequester, but it’s irresponsible to demand expanding America’s credit limit in the negotiations. They are separate issues. If Democrats want to get serious about the nation’s balance sheet, I’ll be at the table. But this bill was not the answer.”

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
