Today, Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI), alongside 18 colleagues, submitted an amendment to the House Homeland Security Appropriations bill for FY23 that prevents funds from being used to enforce the Department of Homeland Security’s rule that requires truck drivers entering the U.S. from Canada and Mexico to have the COVID-19 vaccination.

“In the midst of a supply chain crisis, the last thing our country needs are vaccine mandates that prevent the flow of commerce across our borders,” said Rep. McClain. “I represent a border crossing and hear about the struggles this mandate is causing for not only our border communities, but the entire country. Not a single taxpayer dollar should go to funding this unnecessary mandate.”

Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) Nancy Mace (R-SC), Pete Stauber (R-MN), Bob Gibbs, Brian Mast (R-FL), Chris Jacobs (R-NY), August Pfluger (R-TX) David McKinley (R-WV), Alex Mooney (R-WV), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Bill Huizenga (R-MI), Michelle Fischbach (R-MN), Thomas Massie (R-KY), Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), Adrian Smith (R-NE), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Mary Miller (R-IL), Michael Cloud (R-TX) joined McClain in introducing this amendment.
