WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Rick Scott (R-FL), along with 44 of their colleagues, wrote Attorney General Merrick Garland seeking assurances that the Department of Justice (DOJ) will continue to respect the prosecutorial independence of Special Counsel John Durham and his staff, while also ensuring he is provided all resources necessary to fully, thoroughly and completely pursue the investigation for which he was appointed.

The letter comes as Special Counsel John Durham continues to uncover alarming new information about the fraudulent origins of the FBI’s investigation of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections. Most recently, that includes revelations in new court filings that individuals affiliated with Hillary Clinton’s campaign exploited access to non-public data from White House internet servers and other locations in an attempt to fabricate a narrative of ongoing communications with Russia and Russian entities.

The letter was also signed by Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sens. John Thune (R-SD), John Cornyn (R-TX), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Richard Burr (R-NC), Roger Wicker (R-MS), James Lankford (R-OK), John Kennedy (R-LA), Roy Blunt (R-MO), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Mike Lee (R-UT), Pat Toomey (R-PA), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Mike Braun (R-IN), John Barrasso (R-WY), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Jim Risch (R-ID), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Hoeven (R-ND), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Todd Young (R-IN), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Rob Portman (R-OH), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Tim Scott (R-SC), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Richard Shelby (R-AL) and Rand Paul (R-KY).
