WARREN, MI – Today Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09) released the following update on the case of Danny Fenster of Huntington Woods, MI, a journalist unjustly imprisoned by the Myanmar military since May 24:
"It has been 53 days since Danny Fenster of Huntington Woods, MI was arrested in Myanmar. I'm reaching out to provide a few important updates on his case:
- Danny had another hearing today. As anticipated, he was remanded until July 28. The hearing took place virtually, on account of the worsening COVID situation in Myanmar.
- In light of the COVID spike, Danny's health remains a major concern. Our determined embassy and consular staff have continued their efforts to get him vaccinated without success.
- As the COVID situation worsens, schedules and protocols are being disrupted.
