Arkansas Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton today introduced the Public Servant Protection Act, legislation to protect all government employees and their families from having their home addresses listed publicly online.
“Intimidating, harassing, threatening and endangering government officials and their families by disseminating their personal information is wrong. This legislation gives them recourse, serves as a deterrent and hopefully inspires confidence that powerlessly enduring these shameful tactics is not part of their service to the public,” Boozman said.
“Judges and other government officials should not be subjected to angry protests and violent threats at home simply because they serve the public at work. Our bill will protect public servants and their families by allowing them to remove their home addresses from any public website,” said Cotton.
Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Jim Risch (R-ID), Ben Sasse (R-NE) and Roger Wicker (R-MS) joined Boozman and Cotton as cosponsors of the legislation.
