Candidate’s father founded Recreational Fishing Alliance in 1996

The Recreational Fishing Alliance, a non-partisan grass roots lobbying and advocacy organization,  is supporting Republican Bob Healey, Jr. for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district.

The group was founded by the candidate’s father, Robert Healey, Sr., in 1996 to represent the interests of the fishing industry.   Healey is now one of the family members running his father’s company, Viking Yacht Company.

“When we send Bob to Washington, he will take with him a passion for the hard-working people of his district; he will also take what few in Congress seem to have — a keen understanding of how things work in the real world and a relentless desire to ferret out facts before making decisions that affect lives and livelihoods,” said Martin Peters, a board member and the senior manager of communications at Yamaha.  “That’s what I like about Bob.”

Accordin to NOAA Fisheries, recreational boating impacts over 2,600 jobs and 272 businesses related to the marine industry in the 3rd district and has a $403.1 million impact on the district’s economy.

“Too much of what happens in Washington is decided by elected officials who simply don’t understand, or don’t want to understand, the consequences of their actions,” said Peters.  “Sending Bob to Washington will change that for the people of New Jersey’s 3rd.”

Healey faces Republicans Ian Smith and Nicholas Ferrara in the June 7 Republican primary.  The winner will take on two-term Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) in the November general election.
