HEALEY DEFEATS NICHOLAS FERRARA BY 2-1 MARGIN

Robert Healey, Jr. has won the Mercer County Republican organization line in his bid to take on Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) in New Jersey’s 3rd district.

Healey defeated Nicholas Ferrara, a realtor and ex-attorney, by a vote of 59 to 27, a 69%-31% margin.

Under the new redistricting map that will take effect with the 2022 election, five municipalities in Mercer County – East Windsor, Hamilton, Hightstown, Lawrence and Robbinsville – are now in NJ-3.

That gives Healey, an owner of a South Jersey shipbuilding company, organization lines in all three counties.  He’d previously won lines in Burlington and Monmouth.

Healey’s main competitor, Atilis gym owner Ian Smith, has not sought organization lines.

Smith won national attention during the coronavirus pandemic as a fierce critic of Gov. Phil Murphy’s Covid policies.

In the 12th district, where Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing) is seeking re-election, Mercer County Republicans unanimously selected Darius Mayfield as their organization candidate.  Mayfield faces filmmaker Nick Catucci in the Republican primary.

Mercer County Republicans picked Michael Chianese and Andrew Kotula to run for county commissioner.  They were unopposed.
