The Police Officers Association of Michigan last week endorsed Democrat Michael Griffie in the primary race for the U.S. House in the new 13th District, which includes most of Detroit.

Griffie is running in a crowded 11-way Democratic primary that also includes John Conyers III, state Sen. Adam Hollier, attorney Portia Roberson and state Rep. Shri Thanedar.

“As a member of Congress, I will partner with law enforcement to improve communication and build trust amongst community leaders and residents. I am confident that we can work together to foster and maintain relationships to make our communities more secure,” Griffie said.

The association is the largest police union in the state, representing over 12,000 law enforcement employees.
