Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. David Kustoff (TN-08) voted against the Democrats’ massive tax-and-spend reconciliation package, also known as the Build Back Better Act (H.R. 5376). This bill includes a job-killing minimum 15% corporate tax rate making the U.S. less competitive around the world, grants mass amnesty to illegal immigrants, and significantly expands the IRS. Further, it weakens our domestic energy independence, expands Obamacare subsidies, and gets rid of the lifesaving Hyde Amendment, allowing taxpayer dollars to be used to fund abortions. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates this bill will add $367 billion to the federal deficit over 10 years.
“Today’s massive social spending bill defines President Joe Biden’s radical agenda. It is filled with far-left provisions that would push companies to move their production and their jobs overseas, hurt hardworking American families, and cripple our small businesses. With inflation already at a 30-year high, this bill will leave severe and lasting consequences on our nation’s economy,” said Rep. Kustoff. “At a time when we need to be focused on addressing the current crises impacting our country, Democrats are instead ramming through yet another expensive and far-reaching bill.”
