Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08), issued the following statement following the announcement that Sinova Global will invest $150 million to establish its first manufacturing operations in Tiptonville, Tennessee. This investment will establish a new state of the art silicon metal refining plant in Lake County and will create 140 new jobs.

Located in the Lake County Industrial Park, a Select Tennessee Certified Site, the facility will be adjacent to the Port of Cates Landing, which will help facilitate direct access to Sinova’s wholly owned quartz deposit in Golden, British Columbia. The silicon metal produced at the West Tennessee plant will be supplied to major industrial consumers and used to manufacture silicon anode batteries, solar cells, semiconductors, and aluminum.

“This project will create 140 new jobs and will bring competitive wages that will provide great employment opportunities for rural West Tennessee families. This much-needed investment will help stimulate Lake County’s economy,” said Rep. Kustoff. “I appreciate Governor Bill Lee, Governor Lee’s Economic and Community Development (ECD) team, ECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe, Tiptonville Mayor Cliff Berry, Jr., and Lake County Mayor Denny Johnson for your hard work bringing this development to West Tennessee.”
