Today, Congressman John Moolenaar voted for an amendment to a House Appropriations bill that would prohibit the Strategic Petroleum Reserve from selling oil to China. The amendment was defeated after Democrats voted against it.

“The purpose of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is to make sure our country has oil in the event of a national emergency. I voted to make sure none of that oil is ever sold to China. This is commonsense policy and it is disappointing the Democrats did not join Republicans in supporting it today,” said Moolenaar.

The amendment was offered by Congressman David Valadao (R-CA). The text of the amendment is below.
