WASHINGTON—On Friday, November 19th, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) voted against Democrats' massive $1.75 trillion budget reconciliation proposal that will bankrupt our economy, benefit the wealthy, and greatly expand government control at the expense of Tennesseans. After voting "no" on H.R. 5376, the so called "Build Back Better Act", Representative Rose released the following statement:
"Democrats are determined to pass all 2,100-pages of their massive tax and spend bill that will turn the American dream into a socialist nightmare. This spending bill is a litany of longstanding socialist policies that promise to expand government control and spending on everything from childcare to health care to the cars we drive.
"It will be America's middle-class families that foot the bill for Democrats' multi-trillion-dollar giveaway through crippling tax increases. This massive package will not deliver opportunity or economic relief. Instead, it leaves rural America behind and will accelerate inflation, discourage work, and empower Washington bureaucrats.
"I ran for Congress because I am worried about the country we are going to leave to my sons, Guy and Sam, and to the children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of every Tennessean. I cannot in good conscience support a proposal that will mortgage their future and imperil their freedom and liberty,"said Rep. Rose.
U.S. Representative John Rose is currently serving his second term representing Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District and resides in Cookeville with his wife, Chelsea, and their two sons, Guy and Sam. The Sixth District includes Cannon, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, White, and Wilson counties as well as portions of Cheatham and Van Buren counties. Representative Rose is an eighth-generation farmer, small business owner, and attorney, and currently serves on the Financial Services Committee
