Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) applauded President Biden's nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court.

“Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is an eminently qualified jurist whose stellar record of service in our nation’s federal courts has won her praise and admiration from both sides of the aisle. Today’s nomination is another historic step towards ensuring that our country’s highest court reflects the people it serves and draws upon the full range of excellence available to the American people,” said Congressman Bishop. “I urge a full and fair hearing by the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and her swift confirmation. Today, more young women — particularly women of color — can look to the hallowed halls of the Supreme Court with pride, inspiration, and hope.”

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is a distinguished jurist who has served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since June 2021. Previously, she served for more than eight years on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. There, she delivered more than 600 opinions, only 12 of which were reversed.

Over the course of her career, Judge Jackson has been confirmed — with bipartisan support — by the U.S. Senate three times, twice unanimously. Her Judiciary tenure has earned her a reputation of fairness and impartiality with clear commitment to equal justice and the Constitution.
