Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) released the following statement regarding Friday night’s devastating storms and tornadoes across the Midwest and the South:

“My heartfelt prayers go out to all those impacted by Friday’s tornadoes. I am grateful to the first responders who are working tirelessly to find the missing, clearing debris, and caring for the injured.

“At least 100 people have perished and many more have been injured. Thousands now lack power, water, telecommunications, and the tools needed to sustain their livelihoods.

“I would urge everyone who can to offer aid to those in need directly or through any appropriate relief agencies and organizations. During trying times like these, it is important that we come together as a nation to support those that have been impacted. We must be there for them in the same way that they have been there for us.”
