On Monday, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Co-Chair of the Congressional Job Corps Caucus, visited the Turner Job Corps Center (TJCC) in Albany to discuss the importance of its federally supported programs which serve youth from Georgia and across America. Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country. It helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.
“I have been a longtime supporter of the U.S. Job Corps, and the Turner Job Corps Center is working hard to fulfill its mission. The federal funds I fight for in Congress are being used by TJCC to deliver the programs and maintain their facilities. But due to the aging infrastructure, more is needed for the center to reach its full potential. Though the pandemic has limited the number of students they can engage on site, with greater federal support for facility upgrades this center can help hundreds more young people pursue careers through the center’s tuition-free training and education program. Doing so will significantly boost TJCC’s ability to prepare new generations of young workers for Albany and communities across America,” said Congressman Bishop.
