CONGRESSMAN BISHOP ANNOUNCES $1.1 MILLION IN GRANT AWARDS TO MACON AND ALBANY TO SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) is pleased to announce four grants awarded to three community organizations and higher education institutions across middle and southwest Georgia through the U.S. Department of Education’s Talent Search Program. The program is designed to help make postsecondary education accessible to qualified youths.

 

  • Boys & Girls Club of Central Georgia received a grant of $277,375
  • Epsilon Beta Lambda Foundation received two $277,375 grants
  • Albany State University received a grant of $277,375.
“Through tutorial services, college and career exploration, as well as counseling and mentoring programs, these funds will help provide support and guidance to youth from disadvantaged backgrounds so that they can share in the success that comes from highschool and post-high school education,” said Congressman Bishop.

 

The Talent Search Program provides funding to organizations to help identify promising candidates for postsecondary education and assist those candidates achieve success by completing their secondary educational studies and go on to postsecondary endeavors. The Program also works to increase awareness of financial aid for postsecondary programs and encourage candidates to enter or reenter such programs.
