CONGRESSMAN BISHOP ANNOUNCES $1.1 MILLION TO SUPPORT ROSALYNN CARTER INSTITUTE FOR CAREGIVERS IN AMERICUS, GEORGIA

Georgia

Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) announced that the Fiscal Year 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which was approved by the House Appropriations Committee today, includes $1.1 million for the Caregivers Database Program at the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers (RCI) in Americus, Georgia.

The funds will enable RCI to purchase equipment and software that will dramatically improve RCI’s Caregiver Database Program to manage, collect, analyze, and share data with its many community partners and stakeholders. The program identifies best practices, provides comprehensive training, and develops a virtual caregiving assistance platform for the caregiving community in Georgia and throughout the country.

“The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers is a world leader in advocating for caregivers and developing new and innovative programs for the caregiving community,” said Congressman Bishop. “As Americans live longer, there is an increased need for caregiving services. More than 53 million people serve as unpaid family caregivers in the United States and face disproportionate physical and mental health effects as a result of their caregiving roles. These funds provide RCI the tools and resources they need to help caregivers continue to do their work effectively and with compassion.”

“The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers, led by Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, would like to thank Congressman Bishop for his excellent leadership in supporting caregivers. As RCI continues to address the increasing needs of family caregivers, this funding will enable RCI to provide comprehensive training and to improve our nation's understanding of how to support the health and resilience of this invisible front line," said Dr. Jennifer Olsen, RCI's Executive Director.
