Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02), Chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, released the following statement after the Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP), Inc. and its national network of six regional partners honored him with the 2021 Congressional Champion Award for his outstanding service, dedication, and tireless advocacy on behalf of rural communities and small towns across the nation:

“I am deeply honored to be chosen for RCAP’s Congressional Champion Award. As the Congressman for a district with many rural areas and as the Chairman of the Appropriations subcommittee in charge of rural development, I have long made it a priority to advocate for rural America. Many who have always had the privilege of safe drinking water and reliable wastewater systems do not know this is still a problem in the United States. I am grateful for organizations like the Rural Community Assistance Partnership and will continue to work with them to ensure access to clean drinking water and sanitary wastewater disposal for all Americans.”
