Crossville, TN—April 11, 2022, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-06) participated in a National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) event Monday at the Weigel’s on West Avenue. It gave the Congressman a chance to hear from employees, learn the ropes of operating a convenience store, and engage with constituents.

“I’ve had the privilege of serving friends and neighbors across Middle Tennessee as their representative for three years, but this was my first chance to serve them from behind the counter of a Weigel’s,” Rep. Rose said. “Convenience stores serve a lot of critical functions, especially in rural communities.”

“We were excited to share with Rep. Rose how our stores serve the public in his home state,” said Bill Weigel, Chairman for Weigel’s. “More than half of the country visits a convenience store daily, whether to buy fuel, use the ATM, wash their cars or quickly buy snacks, drinks, or meals.”

The event also served as a perfect backdrop to hear from the many Middle Tennessee families being hit with record-high inflation on consumer goods and skyrocketing gas prices. “Whether you’re buying a drink, a snack, or filling up your tank, you’re paying a lot more than you were a year ago and that's not the convenience store owners’ fault,” Rose said. “If President Biden and Congressional Democrats won't stop the reckless spending in Washington and unleash American oil and gas production, this problem is only going to get worse.”

Pictures of the event are available here.

U.S. Representative John Rose is serving his second term representing Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District and resides in Cookeville with his wife, Chelsea, and their two sons, Guy and Sam. The Sixth District includes Cannon, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, White, and Wilson counties as well as portions of Cheatham and Van Buren counties. Representative Rose is an eighth-generation farmer, small business owner, and attorney, and serves on the Financial Services Committee.
