Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after HB 4019 was signed into law to help reimburse the Michigan Guard for having to pay for their own meals while deployed to the U.S. Capitol.

“Members of the Michigan National Guard answered the call to serve,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “I applaud State Representative Albert and the Michigan Legislature for acting in a bipartisan manner to pass this legislation to support our men and women in uniform. While some in our nation’s capital seem to have forgotten the service of the Michigan Guard, I have not. Washington must live up to its obligation to the Michigan Guard as well as the additional states who deployed their Guardsmen and Guardswomen to the U.S. Capitol. Congress can help make our troops whole and fulfill this obligation by passing the GRUB Act.”
