Huizenga Statement on Afghanistan

Michigan

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga issued the following statement regarding Afghanistan and the translators who assisted American Forces.

We cannot leave behind the translators who worked along side our troops, supported operations, and saved the lives of countless Americans serving in Afghanistan.

I support the decision to move these American allies and their families to another country so they can live peacefully and securely until the vetting and background check process can be properly completed.

Reports indicate that the Taliban is quickly filling the vacuum left by the withdrawal of American forces.  While the United States can not be engaged in forever conflicts, the rapid withdrawal from Bagram doesn’t bode well for the safety and security of the Afghan people or Americans assets in Kabul.
