Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) today announced he has again earned the endorsement of the Nebraska Professional Firefighters Association (IAFF NPFFA) for his re-election to Congress from Nebraska’s 2nd District. Bacon also announced the endorsement of the Professional Firefighters Association of Papillion Local 3767 and the Bellevue Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 4906. These three endorsements are announced on top of the Omaha Professional Firefighters Association’s (IAFF Local 385) endorsement of Bacon in April, amounting to 25 union endorsements for Bacon’s 2022 campaign. “Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) was officially endorsed by the Nebraska Professional Firefighters Association,” said the NPFFA in their endorsement letter. “We have long supported Congressman Don Bacon, and with his dedication to Nebraska first responders, the Nebraska Professional Fire Fighters Association continues this support for the upcoming 2022 general election this November.” Papillion’s Local 3767 President Anthony Strawn noted Bacon’s commitment to public safety in their endorsement letter, calling him one of Local 3767’s “most trusted allies in Washington.” “Your willingness to listen and engage with our members, along with your passion and commitment to public safety has made a positive impact on the lives of every First Responder in the United States,” said Strawn. “You understand the challenges and dangers we face out in the streets every day and have been at the forefront fighting to make sure Firefighters have the resources needed to effectively keep the citizens of this great country safe.” Bellevue’s Local 4906 President Don Gifford highlighted Bacon’s advocacy for first responders, noting that “Bacon has co-sponsored a number of bills with the priority on health and safety for our members.” Bacon stated his gratitude and appreciation for the service and sacrifices first responders and their families make everyday for the health and safety of citizens of the 2nd District. “I am humbled and thankful to earn the endorsements of firefighters across Nebraska and locally in Bellevue, Omaha, and Papillion,” said Bacon. “Every day, these hardworking and trustworthy men and women race towards tragedies most of us run from. It is a privilege to partner with Nebraska’s firefighters on legislation important to first responders, and I pledge my continued partnership to ensure safety for all of Nebraska’s first responders and citizens.”
Omaha Professional Firefighters Association Local 385 President Trevor Towey specifically thanked Bacon for his support of H.R. 393, which made computing firefighters’ retirement benefits more accurate. “Your commitment to our cause and support for first responders has made a positive impact on the lives of our members and on the safety of the NE-02 community,” said Towey. “We stand with you and support you in your re-election to the United States House of Representatives.”
