Washington, DC–– Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) voted this week to pass the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act of 2022, a critical piece of legislation, which will ensure the financial stability of the US Postal Service (USPS), bolster the services they can provide, and finally provide NJ-11 residents with reliable and consistent mail service.

"One of the top concerns residents of the 11th district call my office about is their mail service. Whether inconsistent service, deliveries not getting to where they need to be, or delays in vital deliveries like medicine or financial materials, New Jerseyans have been frustrated for far too long. I took these concerns to Washington and voted to pass the Postal Service Reform Act of 2022, which will directly address these issues and bring back the speedy and reliable mail delivery my constituents deserve. It also will finally allow USPS the freedom to innovate, so that post offices can expand the services they offer. I urge the Senate to move swiftly to pass this bill and get it to the president's desk to be signed into law," said Rep. Sherrill.

The Postal Reform Act of 2022 will:

Require the Postal Service to deliver both mail and packages at least six days per week

Require the Postal Service to develop a public-facing, online dashboard with national and local level service performance data updated each week to provide additional transparency and promote compliance with on-time delivery of mail

Adjust the considerations the Postal Service must make when deciding which mode of transportation to use to deliver mail in order to ensure greater consistency and reliability

Ensure the financial stability of the Postal Service and require it to provide operations and financial performance reports to to enable accountability of stated cost savings, revenue, and other goals
