Pappas lays out transportation and infrastructure priorities for the 117th Congress, holds events throughout the district, and announces Small Business Resource Summit on Febraury 25th
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced that he will again serve on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in the 117th Congress and will continue to make transportation and infrastructure a top priority in his second term in Congress.
During the week of February 8th, Pappas will outline his New Hampshire Infrastructure Roadmap, an ambitious list of infrastructure priorities that he will advocate for this term in Congress. He will also hold a number of events throughout the district with local and regional transportation, infrastructure, and economic stakeholders.
"As we work to overcome this pandemic and find ways to restart our economy following the economic crisis, federal investments in New Hampshire's infrastructure including our roads, bridges, waterways, rail lines, and broadband have never been more important," said Congressman Pappas. "I'm thrilled to again be serving on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure this Congress to continue my advocacy for New Hampshire. These priorities are not Democratic or Republican, they are bipartisan, common-sense solutions that will help meet our state's urgent transportation needs and help expedite critical projects. I will continue to work in a bipartisan fashion to bring both sides together to keep the focus on how we can deliver solutions for Granite Staters and move our country forward."

Pappas's New Hampshire Infrastructure Roadmapincludes many priorities and pieces of legislation that he has advocated for, including:
A comprehensive infrastructure package to restart and grow our economy, put Granite Staters back to work, protect our environment and pave a path for future economic growth. Pappas will work with the Biden-Harris administration and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to craft and pass badly-needed legislation, like the landmark Moving Forward Act last Congress.
Expanding our active transportation networks through the inclusion of legislation Pappas will re-introduce this Congress to create a federal grant program that will build bike and pedestrian trails and related infrastructure.
Cleaning our water and combating PFAS contamination by fighting for better standards, increased investment, and a stronger national focus on the issue of PFAS contamination, including the Clean Water Standards for PFAS Act.
Increasing investment in local water infrastructure through theStop CSO Act, which would make available grants under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to support communities addressing sewage overflow on a local level.
Expanding affordable high-speed Internet, especially to rural and other underserved communities, through investments that promote competition and work to close the digital divide.
Fighting for commuter rail and making investments in Amtrak, passenger, and freight rail to create a robust, reliable rail system and to address long-neglected maintenance needs in the Northeast Corridor.
Building more resilient infrastructure that will withstand the impacts of climate change and extreme weather.
Modernizing transportation funding structures to ensure small states such as New Hampshire receive the support they need, including the Toll Credit Marketplace Act.
Additional pieces of legislation that Pappas will reintroduce include H.R. 3140, the Commercial Fishing Industry Vessel Clarification Act.
Last Congress, Pappas helped craft and pass the Moving Forward Act, an infrastructure package that would invest more than $1.3 billion in New Hampshire's infrastructure. With $1.2 billion for road projects and an estimated $130 million for transit, that legislation represented more than a 30% increase in federal funding for New Hampshire.
Through his advocacy and position as a member of the Water Resources Subcommittee on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Pappas helped secure $18 million in federal funding and expedited completion of a critical Army Corps of Engineers project in Portsmouth Harbor. Rep. Pappas voted to pass bipartisan legislation which included the provisions in the Water Resources Development Act to expedite ongoing water infrastructure projects for the Portsmouth Harbor/Piscataqua River project and Rye Harbor.
He also led a call for action with 100 bipartisan members of Congress that saved states from losing $7.6 billion in highway funding - including nearly $40 million for New Hampshire - which would have caused delays in projects and potential layoffs.
