Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that he secured $1 million for Middlesex College in the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education spending bill for Fiscal Year 2023. The House is expected to vote on the underlying legislation in the coming months.
The funding will be used to implement an enhanced student support model to improve retention and increase graduation rates for adult learners, address equity gaps, and assist in improving the lives of Middlesex County residents who have been incarcerated or are at greater risk of being incarcerated.
“Education is one of the best tools we have to give individuals a chance to thrive in our community and break the cycle of poverty,” Pallone said. “This funding will help Middlesex College provide better support to adult learners looking to better their lives through learning, especially those who have a history with the criminal justice system. I look forward to seeing this project move through the legislative process.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Pallone for his support of Middlesex College and the residents of Middlesex County,” said Middlesex College President Mark McCormick. “Funding for our adult learning project will expand our ability to serve our community and further support the educational and resource needs to our students.”
