U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today called on the United States and its allies to come together to support Ukraine in its defense of the growing aggression by the violent Russian state.
“The entire world should be alarmed by the Russian government’s continued military provocations against our ally Ukraine,” said Rep. Pascrell, one of Ukraine’s strongest supporters in Congress. “Vladimir Putin’s autocratic bullying against Ukraine cannot ever be ignored. The Ukrainian people bravely stand against the Putin dictatorship’s violence and aggression. They must know that America and their allies stand with them in support of Ukrainian sovereignty and democracy. Ukraine and its people must be allowed to live in peace and independence.”
Rep. Pascrell has long been a vocal opponent of Vladimir Putin’s violations of peace and stability in Ukraine. After Russian troops first violated Ukraine’s sovereignty in March 2014, Pascrell called for Russia’s removal as a member of the G-8 and demanded immediate withdrawal of all Russian forces. He has also taken several steps to ensure U.S. support for our Ukrainian allies in the face of Russian aggression led by Putin. Pascrell has long maintained a close relationship with the large and vibrant Ukrainian-American communities in northern New Jersey.
