Today, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01), alongside the Iowa delegation, helped introduce the Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act in the House. Senator Chuck Grassley and Senator Joni Ernst led this effort in the Senate. This legislation would require enhanced reporting of information from meatpackers to USDA to better inform producers' marketing decisions and direct the Secretary of Agriculture to establish regional mandatory minimums of negotiated trade to achieve price discovery.

“Iowa’s cattle producers deserve transparency and a level playing field in the market. This legislation will help our producers have access to adequate price information when selling their cattle on the spot market. I want to thank Senator Chuck Grassley for his leadership on this important issue and I’m proud to help support this bipartisan effort in the House.” -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
