Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-3rd) today said he opposes a closing of or cutbacks at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, as apparently proposed in a new plan from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
“I intend to use every tool in the toolbox to keep Philadelphia’s VA Medical Center open and serving our veterans,” Evans said. “I and my staff are still reviewing the plan, but the bottom line is – I am committed to ensuring our Philadelphia veterans and their families are well served.”
Evans represents Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes Northwest and West Philadelphia and parts of North, South, Southwest and Center City Philadelphia. During Evans’ first five years in Congress, his office has helped to return to or save more than $25 million for Philadelphians from federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs.
