Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced American Airlines will continue providing roundtrip service from the Waterloo Regional Airport. The announcement comes after Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-01) and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) urged the DOT to continue providing air service in the Waterloo area.

“We are thrilled the DOT has approved our request to continue roundtrip air service from the Waterloo Regional Airport,” the lawmakers said in a joint statement following the news. “Whether conducting business or going on vacation, these flights will continue to provide Iowans with convenient travel options – connecting folks to O’Hare, a bustling nerve center for airline travel – and bringing more economic activity to Waterloo. We remain strongly committed to making Iowans’ voices heard by the DOT as the agency makes these important decisions.”

For a two-year term beginning May 1, 2022, American Airlines will provide 13 weekly round trip flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport – connecting northeast Iowans to over 300 cities across the country and dozens of countries around the world.
