In response to inflation surging to a 40-year high, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-01) co-led the bipartisan Informed Lawmaking to Combat Inflation Act alongside U.S. Reps. John Katko (R-NY-24), Stephanie Murphy (D-FL-07), and Kurt Schrader (D-OR-05). This bipartisan bill directs the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to analyze the inflationary effects of pending legislation with a significant budgetary impact and provide Members of Congress with that information before voting on these bills.
“Working families in Iowa and across the country are being forced to make tough budgeting choices as prices for everything continue to soar. Inflation isn't just a number—it is a mom filling up her gas tank half way so she can get a full week of groceries, an older American on a fixed income who can't afford their energy bill, and a small business struggling to keep the lights and heat on. This bipartisan effort will ensure Members of Congress consider how spending in Washington impacts people at home and will give the American people a clear understanding of how certain bills may make their daily lives more expensive." -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
