Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) today questioned President Biden's Office of Management and Budget Director, Shalanda Young, on the President's fiscal year 2023 budget request.
On inflation: "Inflation today is 7.9 percent – the highest it’s been in four decades. And yet, President Biden’s budget plan assumes inflation will only be 2.3 percent through the foreseeable future – this is just out of touch. I asked you about this same issue last year, and here we are a year later with even worse inflation. Why is the Administration still making these claims that are out of touch about low inflation...with what consumers are paying at the grocery store and what consumers are actually facing?"
On biofuels: "On the campaign trail, the President came to Iowa, and looked Iowans in the eye and said they could count on him for a new era of biofuels...why is it not in this budget? Why does the Administration break their promise to Iowans and Americans to not support the usage of renewable biofuels and domestic energy production like ethanol?"
On the border: "After more than 2 million encounters at the Southern Border, we saw some increased funding for CBP. But we are back at square one here with proposed cuts to CBP. Why is that happening?"
