Immigration

No country can afford to place the needs of foreign citizens above those of its own. This is certainly true for the United States. The far left has long advocated for increased privileges and incentives for illegal immigrants while leaving citizens of this country kicked to the curb. From free healthcare and college tuition to paying zero taxes, we have incentivized thousands to break our laws by flooding across our borders. There is a wrong and a right way to enter this country and method matters. I believe in immigration, but it must be done legally. The truth is our immigration system is broken. One of the ways we can fix our system is to complete the border wall to facilitate a safe and legal immigration process, and have a gate so that those who desire to contribute and live their American Dream can enter the right way.

Without a strong border, we invite human trafficking and dangerous drugs to pour into our country and affect our communities. This affects every part of our country and the greater Charlotte area is no exception. Charlotte has one of the highest rates of human trafficking in the nation and we cannot pretend it is not a problem or that it is not related to the crisis on our southern border. I am determined to fight for a strong border policy to protect not only our communities and citizens, but the thousands of innocent migrants who are victimized and trafficked across our border every single day. No one should be forced into the evils of slavery and this is the very thing that an open border invites. I will not turn a blind eye to this grave evil.
