If it doesn’t work for your household, it doesn’t work for the federal government. That’s why I believe we must balance our national budget and I support a Balanced Budget Amendment to our Constitution. But amendments are difficult to pass, as they should be, which is why we need to start with the attainable. We need to reimagine the way we deal with our nation’s finances. There are so many three-letter agencies, many of which have overlapping responsibilities.
This contributes to waste, inefficiency, and, worse yet, an increased role of the government in the lives of our citizens. Agencies like the IRS, EPA, and HHS have enjoyed unchecked influence for far too long. Reform is needed. Let’s reimagine and reform these agencies, cut down on crippling regulation, and lower taxes. We can put power back in the hands of the states and municipalities, because what works for other states simply doesn’t work for North Carolina.
