U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today praised New Jersey State Senate President Steve Sweeney’s (D-West Deptford) record of service today.

“For 20 years, the working men and women of our great state have had a dependable friend in Senate President Steve Sweeney. Steve is so effective because he is a working man himself. It is a testament to Steve’s skill that a building trade union member who’s worked with his bare hands rose to such prominence in the highest halls of government. His run of service makes Steve the Mike Schmidt of Trenton, both in quality and quantity of work. A valuable partner to Governor Murphy, together they fought to create jobs and opportunity and make tremendous progress in our state. Our state’s growth is a direct product of Steve’s guidance. The loss of Steve’s leadership will be felt most profoundly among those for whom Steve has toiled for every day of his career: the impoverished, the jobless, the sick, the aged, and disabled New Jerseyans. But Steve’s voice and spirit are too strong to believe we won’t see his leadership again soon.”
