Today, April 6th, 2022, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) signed on as a cosponsor to H.R. 4568, the Entrepreneurs Need Timely Replenishment for Eating Establishments (ENTRÉE) Act. This legislation, introduced by Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) would assist American restaurants that are working tirelessly to serve their employees and communities by repurposing unspent dollars and putting them toward the Restaurant Revitalization Fund.
“Replenishing the Restaurant Revitalization Fund is necessary to support small businesses and families that fought to maintain their livelihoods throughout the pandemic. Providing this much-needed funding is crucial for getting them back on their feet,” said Miller-Meeks. “It does not make sense to authorize new spending when there is currently billions sitting unused in the Small Business Administration that should be redirected to help these small restaurants that are often family-owned. This money has already been appropriated, authorized, and allocated and should be used to immediately support restaurants across the country.”
Background:
This bill would provide $60 billion to the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Restaurant Revitalization Fund by redirecting money from unspent Economic Injury Disaster Loans and state and local funds.
This legislation would also increase oversight responsibilities and audit requirements for the SBA to safeguard American taxpayer dollars, eliminate preferential treatment for priority groups, and require all applications to be received, reviewed, processed, and disbursed on a first-come, first-served basis.
