Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) has been endorsed by the 350,000 plus hard-working members of the United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) in his 2022 re-election campaign for his record of building consensus and delivering results on issues important to American workers. Bacon also received the endorsements of the more than 13,000 members of the Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669 and the over 1,300 members of Steamfitters and Plumbers Local Union 464 here in Omaha. “I am thankful to all of the local and national support from the hard-working men and women of these labor unions,” said Bacon. UA General President Mark McManus cited Bacon’s vote for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, support for the expansion of the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage provisions, and commitment to an all of the above energy approach as evidence of Bacon’s pro-worker, pro-growth record. “Throughout your three terms in Congress, you have demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring more Americans have a fair shot at success,” said McManus in the letter to Bacon. “And while others might say the right things, you let your record speak for itself. The entire United Association is proud to stand with you as you campaign for another term, and we look forward to continuing our work together to give all working families a fair shot at success” In the endorsement of Rep. Bacon, Steamfitters and Plumbers Local Union 464 Business Manager Brad Bird lauded Congressman Bacon’s accessibility and concern for labor priorities, as well as the infrastructure improvements and good-paying jobs the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill will bring to Nebraska. Bird wrote to Rep. Bacon that “Throughout your time in office, you have always had an open line of communication with not only Local 464, but all of the Unions in your district, and we greatly appreciate being part of the round table labor discussions that you hold on a quarterly basis. Thanks to your vote in support of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, these historic investments will put 464 members to work with fair wages and benefits replacing lead lines, delivering reliable and affordable energy, and modernizing our nation’s aging infrastructure.” Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669 Business Manager Brian Dunn, in their endorsement of Rep. Bacon, pointed to the Congressman’s defense of the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage provisions, support for expansion of the registered apprenticeship model, and commitment to fire safety as wins for the security and prosperity of Nebraska workers and families. “Even more, your votes to protect Davis-Bacon prevailing wage provisions and to expand the registered apprenticeship model mean that more Nebraskans – and more of our members – have a fair shot at a successful and family sustaining career,” said Dunn. “Your commitment to fire safety, and the strict training standards and licensing requirements that come with, will not only put our members to work but will help save lives.” “I am honored to have the support of Plumbers and Pipefitters Unions around the nation, especially those local to Omaha representing hard-working Nebraskans,” said Bacon. “I am thankful for the advice and partnership of the UA, Local Union 464, and Local Union 669 in delivering policy results to improve America’s aging infrastructure, lower the cost of energy through an all of the above approach, and invest in the workers of tomorrow through the UA’s apprenticeship program. I look forward to continued communication and collaboration with national and local labor unions to deliver results for Nebraska workers and families
