Today, June 13th, 2022, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) signed on as a cosponsor of H.R. 7705, the Supreme Court Police Parity Act. This bipartisan legislation, introduced by Reps. Darrell Issa (CA-50) and Lou Correa (CA-46), would allow the Supreme Court of the United States Police to provide the families of Supreme Court Justices with around-the-clock security protection.

This legislation is the House companion to S. 4160, introduced by Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Chris Coons (D-DE).

“Our country was founded on the idea of an independent judicial branch. In recent years we have seen an increase in threats against our Supreme Court Justices and their families, and that is unacceptable,” said Miller-Meeks. “Our Justices must be able to conduct their work without fearing for their lives or the lives of their loved ones. Violence and threats have no place in our society, and I am proud to cosponsor this commonsense and bipartisan legislation.”
