Congressman Cohen Applauds Bipartisan Senate Confirmation of Judge Andre Mathis

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today applauded the U.S. Senate’s bipartisan confirmation of Memphis lawyer Andre Mathis as a judge on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and made the following statement:

“I was pleased to recommend Andre Mathis to President Biden and was proud to see him nominated by the President. Memphians can be proud of this appointment and confirmation of the first African American man from Tennessee to serve on the Sixth Circuit. I commend the leaders of the U.S. Senate for today’s confirmation vote.  I am confident Judge Mathis will dispense impartial justice and admirably perform his important duties. I congratulate him and wish him well.”
